Different parts of Earth's surface receive different amounts of sunlight (Figure below). The Sun's rays strike Earth's surface most directly at the Equator. This focuses the rays on a small area. Near the poles, the Sun's rays strike the surface at a slant.

Many factors, both natural and human, can cause changes in Earth's energy balance, including:

Variations in the sun's energy reaching Earth.

Changes in the reflectivity of Earth's atmosphere and surface.

Changes in the greenhouse effect, which affects the amount of heat retained by Earth's atmosphere.

Lemur [1.5K]

Answer:

2) widened and deepened canals

Explanation:

Over the centuries, humans and animals were largely used as a means to generate power, execute tasks or do certain things during the production and distribution process.

However, in the advent of industrialization and technological advancement, machines were invented to replace human and animal power.

Some examples of such inanimate sources of power are steam plants, nuclear plants, wind energy, solar energy etc. The countries that were actively involved in industrial revolution are the United States of America, Germany, Belgium, France and Britain (England).

In Britain, canals and rivers were the most widely used means of transportation during the industrial period and as such it was extensively developed so as to facilitate the rapid and efficient movement of goods such as textiles.

Hence, in order to reach its factories more easily, Britain widened and deepened canals.
