A comparison, because the USS Alabama is noted as being as big as a monster

It literally says that "The USS Alabama...is a monster". This is a metaphor because the ship is not literally a monster. By saying that it is a monster the author is using a metaphor to compare the USS Alabama to a monster. An analogy makes a comparison between sets of things. However, there isn't another comparison happening in this passage.
