The Mayflower Compact was the first governing document of Plymouth Colony. It was written by separatist Congregationalists who called themselves "Saints".
The Compact was drafted to prevent dissent amongst Puritans and non-separatist Pilgrims who landed at Plymouth. It was signed by 41 English colonist aboard the Mayflower on 11th November 1620.
