Try not to think about the people in the crowd as much, they might say some stuff here and there, but it won't matter. You should worry more about what the teacher grades you based on what you say.

Which of the following quotes BEST represents the central conflict in “The Most Dangerous Game?”
vaieri [72.5K]

Answer: "I wanted the ideal animal to hunt," explained the general. "So I said, `What are the attributes of an ideal quarry?' And the answer was, of course, `It must have courage, cunning, and, above all, it must be able to reason."'

Explanation: In literature, a conflict is a struggle between opposite forces, usually it is between a character (the main character or a very important one) and himself (internal conflict), society or another character (external conflict). The Most Dangerous Game is a short story by Richard Connell, which central conflict is about a General named Zaroff, who enjoys hunting humans. From the given options, the quote that best represents this conflict is "I wanted the ideal animal to hunt," explained the general. "So I said, `What are the attributes of an ideal quarry?' And the answer was, of course, `It must have courage, cunning, and, above all, it must be able to reason"' because just humans are able to reason.

How does the author's diction affect the tone of the text?
Bad White [126]

Answer:

Authors choice of words give a emotional effect to the reader.

Explanation:

Remember that diction is the authors choice of words or phrases he/she uses in a story. In this case the author using certain words and phrases can give a emotional effect to the reader because if you use terms that are serious it will give off a serious tone but if you are trying to come off as serious but using terms or phrases that don't go with that tone you are trying to give off, it might give the reader a different emotional effect that you weren't trying to give.

Hope this helps.

2. We got married in 1970, so we have been married for more than twenty years now.

3. I should have handed in my homework a week ago. My teacher isn't very pleased. She says I must finish it by six o'clock on Monday at the latest.

4. The last time we went to England was in 1983, that's nearly ten years  ago. We haven't been back  since then even though our friends have invited us.

Explanation:

Prepositions are words we use to connect different nouns, pronouns, and phrases in a sentence and express what kind of relationship is present between them. Depending on what this relationship is like, prepositions can be prepositions of time (e.g. <em>during, for, until, since, ago),</em> place (<em>on, in, behind, above</em>), movement (<em>to, towards, into, through</em>), agent (<em>by</em>), instrument (<em>by, with, on</em>), possession (<em>of, with</em>), etc. One preposition can have multiple meanings.
