First things first, we want all the letters on the left side and all the numbers on the right side. So, you have to get rid of the three. In order to get rid of the three you have to take it away, so A/5=8-3. Then it will become A/5=5. After that you want to have A all by itself so divide it by 5, A/5=5/5. Then it will become A=1.
