Not sure what wat you refer to...but after WWI the US saw themselves in the Great Depression due to self economic dispute and the the deal to fund Germany which would pay back France and Britain. After WWII they almost immediately entered the Cold War with the Soviet Union.
Because freedom of speech shows importance and it give s women and minorities the reasoning and the right to speak at their own will to say what they please.
