Answer:

Pahom's ambition for land led to his death, but the only land he needed was the one he was buried in. This can be used to infer the claim that ambition leads to ruin.

Explanation:

"How Much Land Does A Man Need" was written by Leo Tolstoy and tells the story of Pahom, a peasant who had little land and many debts to pay, as well as having little money. He would very much like to own more land and one day he said "if I had plenty of land, I should not fear the Devil himself!"

The devil heard this and accepted the challenge, allowing Pahom to have access to unimaginable amounts of land. This allowed him to work hard and have enough money for everything, including buying more land. However, Pahom became a greedy and aggressive man who only cared about getting more wealth. One day, he walked many kilometers in the sun to be able to buy more land. However, prolonged exposure to the sun caused him to die. After he died, all Pahom's wealth became obsolete and the only land he needed was the one in which he was buried.

Ira Lisetskai [31]
In order for books to be interesting, we need to have heroes with compelling character, "ethos". The character can be presented in two ways; Indirect, where the author describes the acts of the heroes and let us characterize him and direct, where he describes the character by himself. The expression that fits this definition the most is: <span>I noticed that he was fat and bald-headed, and had an expression of winning gentleness and simplicity upon his tranquil countenance. This expression has 2 adjectives and also describes his expression directly.</span>

umka2103 [35]

Answer:

<em>"During the shop’s peak hours – from eight in the evening till around midnight – one could hardly hear oneself talk because of the boisterous chatters that went on."</em>

This excerpt evokes how lively Mallam's tea shop is. It describes how, during peak hours, one could hardly hear oneself talk because of all the chatter that went on. This shows that speech is very important in Ghanian culture. We can also conclude that tea shops, such as the one that Mallam owns, are very important as places for gathering and conversation.
