A thesis is the main point for which a writer makes an argument in his writing. A strong thesis is debatable for it is most times a unique point of view. It states a contrary and unpopular opinion which many may not agree to and provides reasons why that position was assumed.

The thesis,  "School uniforms should be banned," is not strong because it does not add a reason why school uniforms should be banned.
