What is the most likely reason that the author ends the story with Grace's recollection that Abraham Lincoln “seemed so very kin
olasank [31]
The author ends the story with Grace's recollection that Abraham Lincoln "seemed so very kind but looks so very sad" was to portray that to support the characterization of Lincoln as a great man who faced difficult situations. At this time, Lincoln, throughout the ends of his life, suffered "Great Depression" where people around him, always said that he was like a walking melancholy

Read this passage from "A Cub Pilot":
balu736 [363]

Answer:

In this passage from Mark Twain’s “A Cub Pilot,” Twain has used these words to describe himself and his behaviour that affects this part of the text.

His language shows his anger and disappointment.

So, the correct answer is Option B.

Explanation:

This non-fictional story mainly has two characters – Twain himself as an apprentice cub pilot on a steamboat and Brown who is a pro pilot on the same boat. The two characters are dependent on each other for their respective roles but they don’t gel in well which is quite evident from the author’s reaction towards him and vice-versa. Brown is Twain’s boss and often misuses his power and orders the latter around. The tension propels as the text goes on. Though so many differences, their passion about their job is the same. None of them wants to leave the ship in spite of their individual differences.

In Between shades of gray who is the main character
Nitella [24]

a New York Times Bestseller, is the debut novel of American novelist Ruta Sepetys. It follows the Stalinist repressions of the mid-20th century and follows the life of Lina as she is deported from her native Lithuania with her mother and younger brother and the journey they take to a labor-camp in Siberia. It was nominated for the 2012 CILIP Carnegie Medal[1] and has been translated into more than 27 languages.[2]

Between Shades of Gray was originally intended as a young adult novel, but there have been several adult publications. In an interview with ThirstforFiction, Ruta Sepetys said that the reason she intended Between Shades of Gray to be a young adult novel was because she met many survivors in Lithuania who were themselves teenagers during the deportations, and had a greater will to live than many of their adult counterparts at the time.[3]

Between Shades of Gray is partly based upon the stories she heard from survivors of the Genocide of Baltic people during a visit to her relatives in Lithuania.[4]

Sepetys decided she needed to write a fiction novel rather than a non-fiction volume as a way of making it easier for survivors to talk to her. She interviewed dozens of people during her stay.[5]

Lina Vilkas is introduced as a young artist living comfortably in her home in Kaunas, Lithuania, living with her loving family. But, on June 14, 1941, Soviet officers (the NKVD) barge into her home, tearing her family from the comfortable life they've known. Separated from her father, forced onto a crowded and dirty train car, Lina, her mother, and her younger brother, Jonas, slowly make their way north, crossing the Arctic Circle, to a work camp in the coldest reaches of Siberia. Here they are forced, under Stalin's orders, to dig for beets and fight for their lives under the cruelest of conditions. She befriends many people and works hard alongside her mother and brother for food and survival. Upon arriving at the camp, Lina and her family are forced to live with Ulyushka, a cruel, seemingly heartless woman who initially dislikes the Vilkas' and constantly takes their food and other goods from them as a

Hillenbrand writes, "As Louie blazed through college, far away, history was turning" (p. 43). Why does the author interrupt Loui
liubo4ka [24]

Explanation: This is a passage related to the work "Unbroken" by American author Laura Hillenbrand. The writer interrupts Louis's story by inserting information about Japan and Germany, thus better informing readers of the background of the story. The broader picture of Zamperini is acquired in this way, that is, how Zamperini's life can be changed by war. Although Louis Zamperini may have had different plans after participating in the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, his plans were interrupted by the war. Although he had some plans of his own, he never dreamed that he would survive a plane crash in the Pacific Ocean, swim for 47 days on a raft and spend two and a half years in three brutal Japanese camps. The idea is that the world around us changes as often as we don't want it to.
