Answer:

The Venona Project was an Initiative of the United States government together with the United Kingdom during World War II to intercept and learn about the communications between one of its main allies during that conflict, the former Soviet Union, with its diplomatic, political or military undercover agents; spy networks; or simply influential citizens in the United States.

The project concentrated and deciphered the cablegrams and messages that circulated between Moscow and North America during the war, and potentially "threatened" the national security of the northern country. The project did not get to know each other, or only some American presidents had partial knowledge of it. At first the contents of the messages could not be deciphered, this only happened due to an error of Soviet intelligence, so the content of the messages remained secret until the fall of the socialist camp, in the 1990s, fifty years more late to have been programmed.

The Venona documents comprised three main categories:

- Those that contain reports on the opinions transmitted by American spies.

- Reports of conversations between US and Russian officials.

- Those that provide only a general context or contain little useful information.

A notable case was that of atomic espionage, which led to the execution, in June 1953, of the spouses Julius and Ethel Rosenberg. The evidence that led to the accusation of both was not based on the Venona Project, which was not public and was only known to the secret services, but by statements by Ethel's brother. However, that way he could save himself, even if he pleaded equally guilty.

6. Which answer choice correctly orders the events of World War II given below?
tresset_1 [31]

Answer:

The correct answer is: A, C, D, B

1. Pearl Harbor attack

2. U.S. enters the war

3. Internment of Japanese Americans

4. Japan surrenders

Explanation:

The attack on Pearl Harbor was a surprise attack by the Japanese Navy at the US Navy Base Pearl Harbor in Hawaii on December 7, 1941. The attack led to US military involvement in the course of World War II on the side of the Allies. In the 1930s, Japan began to invade China without the approval of the United States and European colonial powers; when Japanese troops occupied French Indochina, America decided to impose a fuel embargo on the Japanese. Therefore, the war was inevitable, because the Japanese did not want to accept American demands to leave China.

The Pearl Harbor attack was realized without any formal declaration of war, which caused great anger among the American public. After the attack, the U.S. decided to involve in the course of World War II on December 8, 1941.

After entering World War II, U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt decided to relocate and incarcerate the Japanese population in the United States. More than 125,000 Japanese citizens who were living in the United States were taken to concentration camps in the western part of the country on February 19, 1942. This event is also known as the Internment of Japanese Americans.

The surrender of Japan in August 1945 marked the end of World War II. After Manchuria was attacked by Soviet troops and after the U.S. bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japanese leadership decided to accept the Allied terms for ending the war.
