The French and Indian war caused the King of England a lot of debt and to get out of debt he decided to impose taxes on the colonies. The tax money was not used for the colonies and the colonists did not have say in it. When the Enlightenment movement spread into the colonies they began to question the kings taxing. The realized “ no taxation without representation” was good for them. The colonists began to unite to fight for their rights against an abusive leader. This ultimately ends in the creation of the Declaration of Independence and American Revolutionary War.
