The Unrestricted submarine warfare was effecting the lives of Americans traveling across seas, one example is the sinking of the RMS Lusitania. Which some of the passangers were Americans. The Zimmerman telegram was also a factor in the US entering WW1 but did not effect the individual lives of Americans. The Treaty of Versailles is not in place yet and British propoganda was also a factor in the US siding with France and Britain.

Socialist movement really helped to further the women's suffrage movement. Socialists really challenged the "accepted" ideas that women were some how inferior. The basic doctrine of socialism and the ideas of people being equal really backs the ideas that women should be able to vote. They should be able to vote because they are the same as men. They should also have a say in the running of the government.
