Well, it was bound to happen to the Continental Congress because the rebels were upset about the debt crisis Early America was going through. They went around burned buildings and house (all government related).
Now for the American Revolution. Most of the Continental Army were made up of farmers and they were enraged by what little compensation they got. They couldn't feed their families or even feed themselves and had to barter because their credit was poor.
