The correct answer to this open question is the following.

The root of the word "Progressivism" is the following.

Progress-to move forwards. "Ivism," the practice or action of progress.

Progressivism can be understood as a philosophy in politics that support the idea of creating social reformation in order to generate social progress, benefiting the majority of the people in need. It could be in different areas of social life such as the economy, politics, science, or culture.

In the case of the United States, the country lived a period known as the Progressive era that started in 1896 and ended in 1916. During this period, there were many reforms and laws that sought changes to improve the conditions left by the industrialization time.

Even today, progressist ideas still exist. For example, when the government support legislation to create a social program that benefits most Americans, the poor, or a minority group.

Explain how the United States courts of appeals, or circuit courts, differ in their purpose from federal district courts?
Maksim231197 [3]

The United States courts of appeals (circuit of courts) differ in their purpose from federal district courts in that courts of appeals function as a system to check the performance of federal district court judges.

Federal district courts have the right of working on cases which involve federal laws.

As regards the US courts of appeals, they are forums in which decisions made in federal courts, may be considered again. It doesn't mean that there will be another trial, it means that the courts of appeals may consider any possible mistakes and will be willing to check the performance of the federal cort judges.

Many americans in the 1920s seemed to support both isolationism and an active role in international affairs. do you agree
zavuch27 [327]
There is evidence to support that the US was both internationalist in their action as well as wanting isolation. The demand of the country was to return to isolationism and 'return to normalcy'. However in a global market, economically the US could not isolate as our money was tied to the money of other nations. Therefore politically, the US could not completely step away either. Circular loans given to Germany to pay reparation brought the US closer to Europe economically. The Washington Conference was an international conference but the goal was to reduce arms to prevent future war and involvement. Additionally, the US refused to sign the Treaty of Versailles and did not join the League of Nations. Domestically, the country also instituted immigration restrictions in hopes of preventing world troublemakers from getting into the US.
