5 0

Answer:

x > 2

Step-by-step explanation:

–1 > –2(x – 4) – 5(4x – 7)

–1 > –2x  + 8 –20x + 35

–1 >  - 22x + 43

- 1 - 43 >  - 22x

- 44 >  - 22x

\frac{ - 44}{ - 22}   <   \frac{ - 22x}{ - 22}

2 < x

x > 2

A group of high school athletes has an average GPA of 2.7 with a standard deviation of 0.9. a)Find the percentage of athletes wh
mart [117]

Answer:

a) The percentage of athletes whose GPA more than 1.665 is 87.49%.

b) John's GPA is 3.645.

Step-by-step explanation:

In a set with mean \mu and standard deviation \sigma, the zscore of a measure X is given by:

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

The Z-score measures how many standard deviations the measure is from the mean. After finding the Z-score, we look at the z-score table and find the p-value associated with this z-score. This p-value is the probability that the value of the measure is smaller than X, that is, the percentile of X. Subtracting 1 by the pvalue, we get the probability that the value of the measure is greater than X.

In this problem, we have that:

\mu = 2.7, \sigma = 0.9

a)Find the percentage of athletes whose GPA more than 1.665.

This is 1 subtracted by the pvalue of Z when X = 1.665. So

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

Z = \frac{1.665 - 2.7}{0.9}

Z = -1.15

Z = -1.15 has a pvalue of 0.1251

1 - 0.1251 = 0.8749

The percentage of athletes whose GPA more than 1.665 is 87.49%.

b) John's GPA is more than 85.31 percent of the athletes in the study. Compute his GPA.

His GPA is X when Z has a pvalue of 0.8531. So it is X when Z = 1.05.

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

1.05 = \frac{X - 2.7}{0.9}

X - 2.7 = 1.05*0.9

X = 3.645

John's GPA is 3.645.

I like dogs but this question is a hard one.
Savatey [412]

Answer:

Work below

Step-by-step explanation:

49 total dogs.

36 more small dogs.

13 big dogs.

lol just realized today's school has sh*t wording and this question can be taken TWO ways. 36 more as in, 36 more dogs in total or 36 more small dogs than large dogs adding the amount of large dogs with this. this gives us 49.

the only way to get the x value (large dogs) and add this on top of the 36 (small dogs) and get 49 is to do 6.5 + 42.5 (36 + 6.5) this gives us 49.

Thanks guy in the comments for giving the second response, after some thinking i realized that i could also read it that way.

Which number can replace the variable to make these fractions equivalent?blank/7, 54/42
taurus [48]
Equivalent fractions can be found by multiplying numerator and denominator by the same number.

for example : 2/5 * 3/3 = 6/15......2/5 and 6/15 are equivalent. Just like 2/5 * 4/4 = 8/20......2/5 and 8/20 are equivalent...so basically, if u multiply the numerator by a certain number, and the denominator by that same number, u will get an equivalent fraction.

Now to ur problem...
   x             54
------    =   -----
   7             42

now look at ur denominators....7 x what = 42 ? 7 x 6 = 42...so u have multiplied the denominator by 6....so u would have to multiply the numerator by 6.....or divide by 6....54/6 = 9.....or 9 x 6 = 54. So that missing value is 9.

9/7 = 54/42

check..
9/7 * 6/6 = 54/42 (equivalent)
