In order to match these up, you first need to understand the basics and the definitions of each term. You also will need to know how to solve for each term. These are the definitions and how to solve for them:

Mean: This is the average of all the numbers. In order to find this, you need to add up all the numbers and divide the answer by the amount of numbers you added together.

Ex. 3, 8, 9, 3, 5, 7, 7    Mean is: (3+8+9+3+5+7+7) ÷ 7 = 6

Median: This is the middle number. In order to find it, you need to put all the numbers in numerical, or number, order. You then find which number is in the middle, and that is your median.

Ex. 3, 8, 9, 3, 5, 7, 7   Median: 3, 3, 5, 7, 7, 8, 9 median is 7 because it is the number in the middle.

Range: This is the difference between the smallest and biggest numbers. To find it, you subtract the smallest and biggest numbers.

Ex. 3, 8, 9, 3, 5, 7, 7  Range: 9 - 3 = 6. Range is 6.

Interquartile Range (IQR): This is the difference between Q3 and Q1. In order to find this, you need to first order the numbers in numerical order and find the median.

Ex. 3, 8, 9, 3, 5, 7, 7    IQR: 3, 3, 5, 7, 7, 8, 9

7 is the median, so we are now going to find the median of all the numbers before the 7 and all the numbers after the 7.

3, 3, 5 median(Q1) = 3             7, 8, 9 median(Q3) = 8

Now, we are going to subtract the Q1 by the Q3. Since 8 - 3 = 5, the IQR is 5.

Mean Absolute Deviation (MAD): This is the average distance between the mean of two separate data sets. In order to find this, you need to find the mean of each data set, then find the difference between them.

Ex. Data set A:   2, 2, 4, 4                  Data set B:   1, 1, 6, 4

     Mean: 3                                       Mean: 3

We are now going to figure out how far from the mean each point is.

Data set A: | 2-3 | + | 2-3 | + | 4-3 | + | 4-3 | ÷ 4(amount of numbers in data) = 1

Data set B: | 1-3 | + | 1-3 | + | 6-3 | + | 4-3 | ÷ 4(amount of numbers in data) = 2

MAD of data set A = 1                   MAD of data set B = 2

Remember, in MAD, negative and positive don't matter. What matters is how far away from the mean each point is.

Now that you know what each of these terms are, you should be able to complete this worksheet. Please let me know if you need any more help or clarification. I hope this isn't too confusing. Good luck!

Find midpoint M of AB.
Solve the diagram below
Solnce55 [7]
First, figure out the coordinates of each end-point.
Just read them off of the graph:

A = (9, 11)
B = (-3, -5)

Now, you have to know how to find the midpoint between two given points.
That's easy:

-- The 'x' coordinate of the midpoint is the average of the 'x' coordinates
of the two ends.
-- The 'y' coordinate of the midpoint is the average of the 'y' coordinates
of the two ends.

The 'x' coordinates of the ends are 9 and -3.
Their average is  1/2 of (9 - 3) = 1/2 of (6) = 3 .

The 'y' coordinates of the ends are 11 and -5 .
Their average is 1/2 of (11 - 5) = 1/2 of (6) = 3 .

We have calculated that the midpoint is the point (3, 3) .

I added that to your drawing.
See my attached drawing.

A contractor builds homes of 12 different models and presently has 5 lots to build on. In how many different ways can he arrange
Alecsey [184]

Considering the definition of permutation, in 95,040 different ways he can arrange homes on the lots.

Definition of Permutation

Permutation is placing elements in different positions. So, permutations of m elements in n positions are called the different ways in which the m elements can be arranged occupying only the n positions.

In other words, permutations are ways of grouping elements of a set in which:

  • take all the elements of a set.
  • the elements of the set are not repeated.
  • order matters.

To obtain the total of ways in which m elements can be placed in n positions, the following expression is used:

m Pn=\frac{m!}{(m-n)!}

where "!" indicates the factorial of a positive integer, which is defined as the product of all natural numbers before or equal to it.

This case

In this case, you know:

  • A contractor builds homes of 12 different models.
  • Presently the constractor has 5 lots to build on.

To obtain the total of ways in which he can arrange homes on these lots, you use the permutation. This is, 12 elements o models can be arranged occupying only the 5 positions:

12P5=\frac{12!}{(12-5)!}

Solving:

12P5=\frac{12!}{7!}

12P5= 479,001,600 ÷ 5,040

12P5=95,040

Finally, in 95,040 different ways he can arrange homes on the lots.
