Growing up many of us were raised to believe that kids (subordinates) should do what they are told when they are told to do it without questioning authority. This has affected my leadership and even parenting in that I have not always felt the need to explain the why. I thought that would teach better discipline. Think about your own childhood. Some of you were raised similar and some were not. With examples explain how this philosophy can affect relationships and productivity over time. Well I was raised to do what I was told and always had strict rules. This has affected my relationship with my parents no doubt, it takes away being able to get close to them or telling them certain things. I always thought I'd have to listen to others and never myself but now I see that and do not like being told what to do.
