How does Giddings distinguish between rights and privileges? Is “first-class” citizenship a right or a privilege?

<span>Actually theres a big difference between rights and privilege because privilege is just more better options or luxury, where as rights are always every body’s natural rights till the end of life, and ofcourse firstclass citizenship is without a doubt everybodys rights always.</span>

The 13th amendment stated “neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, EXCEPT AS A PUNISHMENT FOR CRIME...” so when white settlers could no longer have African-American as slaves they needed a loophole. So incarcerating an African-American for petty crimes, such as theft or burglary for an abundance amount of time created mass incarceration.
