Understanding the social and historical context of any story is important. The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle takes place i

n the early 1800s. For this project, you are going to create a short presentation that introduces your audience to this time period.
Next, create three to five slides in a presentation using pictures and text that tells your imaginary audience something important about the early 1800s. You can focus on the way people dressed, social expectations, slavery, women’s rights, industrialization, life at sea, etc. Your focus can be anything that you find interesting as long as it helps create a historical context for the story.

What is the best way to emphasize a point when giving a speech?
Paha777 [63]

Answer:

There’s no one single best way to make a point. The real question is which is the best way to do it in this or that situation. For instance, you might do best with speaking a bit louder on the part you want to emphasize. So compared to what’s around it, the louder part will stand out, thus providing emphasis. Then again, a gesture might be your best approach. Repeating the point to make sure everybody got it and stress it’s importance is one more technique. Using a powerful example to illustrate your point and/or its importance or effectiveness is another strategy.
