Sojourner Truth whose real name was Isabella Baumfree was born into slavery in New York. She eventually became free fully in 1827 as a result of New York outlawing slavery.
By 1843, she held the belief that God wanted her to travel the country and spread the word. This she did with series of her speech testifying the hope she believes in.
She later in the 1850s campaigned for female suffrage and fought again post-slavery segregation laws.
