shepuryov [24]

Option-(C):

"The Age of Science has made the role of modern chemists similar to the former role of slaves ", it is just because the age of science, in which sweetness is a product of chemistry, not whips.

Explanation:

 • Sugar changed the world:

This passage is taken from "Sugar Changed the world". As for more then just a century poor souls from underprivileged regions around the globe were treated badly, as they worked in the plantations and produced a large amount of sugar inside the international market, which acted as a benefit for the imperial systems in that era. As there were rich countries around the globe who enslaved many Africans, and brought them to the American regions. The slaves were kept deprived of there basic rights, as they worked day and night for the foreign companies, and more over for the British imperial system. Sugar was referred to as "White Gold" by many, and the profit was brought to the Monarch of the British empire it that era.

 • Advancement made in Science and Contribution of Chemistry in it:

As sugar was extracted mainly from sugar cane in the plantations, for more then just two centuries by the slaves who worked in these setups. Now, there was need to introduce another source for making the profit double, as there was need to increase the sugar's level of productivity. And, for that reason beet seed was the option for the chemists to work on. As it did not need any slaves, or much investments in the business for obtaining the sugar, but it was sort of easy way to obtain good amount of sugar. Due, to introduction of Beet sugar and improving the way to obtain the sugar easily, it resulted in era of 1854 that 11 percent of world sugar production came from beets.Which was huge step in the business.

 • As the chemist went on to perform extensive research on the different materials and had another success when they discovered about the properties of saccharine—a laboratory-created substance. Which had more sweetness in it, and was easy way to obtain and add the flavors to the different food items.
 • So, chemist were not treated as slaves but they did research and invented the better alternatives to have sweetness in food.

What are the similarities and differences between Akutagawa’s “In a Grove” and Poe’s “The Tell-Tale Heart?” Pick one of the thre
VashaNatasha [74]

Both stories are about Crime. Takehiko is murdered and Masago is rapped in "In a Grove" while an Old man is murdered by the Narrator in "The Tell-Tale Heart".

Analysis of Characters

One major difference is that there is a stint of metaphysical theme in "In a Grove" While Masago tries to murder her husband in the book "In a Grove", The Narrator is the murderer in "The Tell-Tale Heart".

After Masago killed her husband, she tries to stab herself in the neck and drown herself. This attempt failed.

The narrator on the other hand - "The Tell-Tale Heart" after attempting to hide his crime confesses because of his own heartbeat.

In a way, both the Narrator and Masago seemed to develop a conscience after their crime has been committed.
