The reason why European countries sent out explorers was to discover ne lands that could be traded with and dominated. These explorers were largely successful.

When Europeans needed a way to trade with Asia without going through Muslim lands, they set about exploring a new route to which they could get to Asia. This led to the discovery of the Americas and much of Africa.

Another reason was to find other areas that could give them resources and could be dominated for colonization.

Explorers were successful and found areas such as America, Southern Africa and South Asia.
