Answer:

I like O. Henry's "The Gift of the Magi" more because it revolves around selfless love and consideration for others, which is the greatest gift of all.

Explanation:

In between the two choices of either "The Most Dangerous Game" by Richard Connell or O. Henry's "The Gift of the Magi", O. Henry's story resonates more with me. I love the story of the gift of giving better.

The story "The Gift of the Magi" revolves around two people who kept others first instead of their own needs. And in their act of humility, Della and Jim showed how rewarding it is to put others first. And it was this humble act of kindness that they were able to understand, and also reveal to the readers, how nothing compares to the gift of selfless giving.

Answer:

D). Sentence 3.

Explanation:

As per the question, the third sentence least supports the central idea of the given passage. The key idea of the passage is to inform the readers about how Aztecs learned the process of preparing red dye by using cochineal(insect) and its associated aspects like(the reason for which people stopped using it or the latest interests in it again). The third sentence tells the reader about the period in which artificial dyes came into existence which is completely out of the context and irrelevant to the central idea. Hence, option D is the correct answer.

9) In paragraph 4, which rhetorical device does Lincoln use to emphasize
Serhud [2]

Answer:

Parallel Structure

Explanation:

He starts off the first two sentences with the same word; neither, and introduces a similar and continuing claim across the entire paragraph. He does the same with the rest of the sentences, such as the fourth sentence being a continuation of the third. Also, if you pay attention to the grammatical form within the paragraph, it creates a pattern. It essentially is a rhythm of speech that underscores two or more ideas that have the same importance to one another!
