Read the passage below: And even as we stood there, confused and lost amidst unprecedented things, we became aware for the first

time of a sound upon the moon other than the air of the growing plants, the faint sighing of the wind, or those that we ourselves had made. Boom.... Boom.... Boom. In the above passage, which is a logical prediction a reader could make? There is a sound coming from the ground. A dinosaur is walking towards them. There may be other dangers besides being lost. None of these predictions is logical.

Answer:

A good logical prediction is something big might happen, maybe a volcano eruption, or maybe something is chasing them (besides). Lost is terrible, they could get eaten.. They might be getting hunted by a hungry tiger.

By the nineteenth century, some of the ancient English families had lost their power, wealth, and influence.

In the passage Tess and Angel are looking at an old house once owned by the d'Urbervilles. Angel says, "There is something very sad in the extinction of a family of renown, even if it was fierce, domineering, feudal renown." This shows that some of the families that were once powerful in England have lost their power, wealth, and influence.
