Jackson also tried to discourage corruption among government agents responsible for the arrangement of the removal. He did not want to destroy the Native American’s way of life and culture, but wanted to keep them from certain extinction. Jackson believed that the Indian Removal Act of 1830 was a way to protect Native Americans from annihilation at the hands of white settlers.
