Stereotypes , the way Anna was treated by her peers i.e. like an incapable weak without even caring for her thoughts it is a harmful effect of the Stereotypes

About the stereotypes

As the definition of stereotypes suggests a false classificatory concept to which a bold emotional feeling tone of agreement or disagreement, approval or disapproval is attached. All stereotypes due to overgeneralization or inaccurate generalization people are put into different types without taking a second to see actually what they are. This is the main reason why Anna was made to feel less capable and older than her peers.

Other Factors

Apart from this in different situations generations, work place differences, being older, etc. also plays a role in differentiating aged people and make them feel unfit and incompetent in the society or with the peers.
