California condors (Gymnogyps californianus) are listed on the IUCN Red List as being critically endangered. Since 2003, the Cal

ifornia Condor Recovery Program has been reporting their demographic data. In 2012 they estimated the number of individuals living in the wild to be 235. If their intrinsic rate of natural increase is 0.089 ind/year, predict the size of the California condor population in 2022.

Answer:

≈ 572

Explanation:

Predict the size of the California condor in 2022

we can predict this value with this relation below

Nt  =  No*e^(rt)  --- ( 1 )

where ; Nt = Future population , No = initial population,  r = intrinsic rate of increase ,  t = time

No = 235

r = 0.089

t = 2022 - 2012 = 10

Insert values into equation  1

Nt = 235 * e^( 0.089 * 10 )

    = 235 * e^0.89

    ≈ 572

Therefore the size of the California condor population in 2022 ≈ 572

If your sample does not grow on the plate in the anaerobic chamber but does grow in the presence of oxygen, it produces bubbles
jasenka [17]

Answer:

it is an obligate (or strict) aerobe

Explanation:

By whether an organism requires oxygen or not for respiration. We can classify it as either aerobic or anaerobic.

Aerobic organisms require oxygen and anaerobic do not.

For aerobes, it can be facultative or obligate. Facaltative aerobes require oxygen but they can however switch to fermentation when oxygen is not available.

Obligate aerobes are aerobes require oxygen for cellular metabolism.

In the test the dextrose tube remained yellow because fermentation had not taken place.

Therefore we can conclude the sample contained an obligate aerobe which was catalase positive since it produces bubbles when Hydrogen peroxide was added.

The resting membrane potential is primarily due to the differences in concentrations of which ions?
kompoz [17]

The resting membrane potential is primarily due to the differences in concentrations of potassium ions.

The high concentration of potassium ions in the intracellular fluid and the high permeability of the cell membrane to potassium ions in comparison to other ions are the main causes of the resting potential.

The potential across a certain cell membrane at rest is known as the resting membrane potential. It is largely determined by the potassium concentration gradient across the cell membrane or the ratio of ICF to ECF potassium in neuromuscular tissues (such as neurons, heart muscle, and skeletal muscle).

The passage of potassium, sodium, calcium, and chloride across the membrane causes variations in its permeability, which in turn affects the resting membrane potential (RMP). The differential in potentials between intracellular and extracellular areas, is acquired by the membrane once it has become polarised.

What type of blood vessel usually carries oxygen rich blood
tangare [24]

Answer: artery

Explanation:

The artery is the blood vessel that carry oxygenated (oxygen-rich) blood away from the heart while the vein carry deoxygenated(oxygen-poor) blood from the body to the heart.

Hence, all arteries carry oxygenated blood except pulmonary artery while all veins carry deoxygenated blood except pulmonary vein.
