The change in the title of the poem indicates what Whitman was talking about in this piece. Poetry explores the potential for community between individuals, much as Walt Whitman fuses specific individuals with an abstract 'I'. Whitman, starting from the premise of "what you suppose", seeks to prove that he encompasses the universe and is indistinguishable from it.
