Nuclear hormone receptors are transcription factors that control gene expression by directly binding to DNA and recruiting addit

ional proteins called coactivators and corepressors. Despite being transcription factors, they are often called receptors because they bind hormones.

Answer:

Yes.

Explanation:

Yes, Nuclear hormone receptors is also responsible for binding hormones due to presence of Ligands. Ligands bind to and activate nuclear receptors such as lipophilic substances such as endogenous hormones, vitamins A and D, and xenobiotic endocrine disruptors. The first role of Nuclear hormone receptors are the control of gene expression by directly binding to DNA and its second role is binding of hormones.

A student removes an algae cell from its marine environment and puts it into a sample of freshwater. What will happen to the siz
Igoryamba

The size of the algal size will increase or swell when a student removes an algal cell from its marine environment and puts it into a sample of freshwater.

Tonicity refers to the concentration of a solution compared to another solution. A solution is said to be hypertonic, if it has a greater concentration of solutes than the other solution. A solution is said to be hypotonic, if it has a lower concentration of solutes than the other solution. A solution is said to be isotonic, if it has the same concentration of solutes as of the other solution.

In a marine environment, the algal cells are said to be hypertonic with a higher concentration of the solutes than the freshwater. When such a cell is placed in freshwater with hypotonic environment, the concentration of solutes in the cell is higher than the external environment. In other words, it has lesser water molecules in it. As a result, osmosis occurs which is the movement of water molecules from a region of its higher concentration to a region of its lower concentration through a semipermeable membrane and water enters the cell from the freshwater. Thus, increasing the size of the algal cell or the algal cell swells.

Why do plant cells need a cell wall but animal cells do not
morpeh [17]
Cell walls are rigid which gives plants their shape. Animals have only cell membranes which allows animals to be flexible as animals are moving organisms. Plants, on the other hand, are sturdy and upright and are sessile organisms. Cell walls allow plants to grow upright as high as their maximum height and to be sturdy enough to survive harsh environments.
