The most interesting anecdote from Helen Keller’s autobiography was the story she told about learning the meaning of the word love. It was difficult for her to understand abstract concepts and processes since she couldn’t physically feel them. Anne was able to teach her how the word think refers to the process she was doing in her head when she was trying to figure something out. From there, Anne explained that love is not something you can touch. She said, “You feel the sweetness it pours into everything.” Sullivan’s description helped Helen understand the abstract concept of love.
