Answer:

The Width of the property is 1/2 (or 0.5) miles

Step-by-step explanation:

Step I - Formula for the length of a rectangle is given as

L = \frac{A}{w}

Where L = Lenght

A =  Area and

<em>w = </em>Width

Step II - Insert values

We have L to be equal to 2 Miles, and

W to be equal to 1 square mile

Therefore

2 = \frac{1}{w}

To obtain <em>w</em>, we have to collect like terms to one side of the equation by cross multiplying

So

\frac{2}{1} = \frac{1}{w}

Cross multiplying we have

2w = 1

to get the value of w, we divide both sides by 2

\frac{2w}{2} = \frac{1}{2}

On the left side we are left with <em>w, </em>whilst on the right side we are left with a fraction - 1/2 (which in decimal form is 0.5)

Therefore, <em>w </em>= 0.5 Miles and this is the width of the property.

To confirm, Area of a rectangle is given by A = <em>w * l</em>

<em />

If we insert our figures, we'd get 0.5 x 2

Which is equals to 1 which was given in the question.

Cheers!

If sin θ = 1 over 3 and tan θ &lt; 0, what is the value of cos θ? (1 point)
Illusion [34]

\sin\theta=\dfrac13>0, so

\tan\theta=\dfrac{\sin\theta}{\cos\theta}

Recall that

\cos^2\theta+\sin^2\theta=1

for all \theta, and knowing that \cos\theta we have

\cos\theta=-\sqrt{1-\sin^2\theta}=-\dfrac{2\sqrt2}3

PLEASE HELP ME ASAP!!!!
elixir [45]
To rotate the figure 180 degrees, you would make it so all the points are:

(x,y) to (-x,-y)

Basically, you would switch every sign on the point.

(1,-1) -> (-1,1)

(3,-2) -> (-3,2)

(3,-4) -> (-3,4)

Those new points would be P'Q'R'.

Then when you reflect over the x-axis, you would flip every y sign.

(-1,1) -> (-1,-1)

(-3,2) -> (-3,-2)

(3,-4) -> (3,4)

You would chart those points as P"Q" R".

I hope this helps! (review my answers)

Pre Calc Question for one of my classes
Tatiana [17]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

f(x) is like y in a linear equation. There is one major difference. F(x) tells you what to substitute on the right every time you see an x.

f(a) = -3a + 7

f(b) = -3b + 7

For this question a and b have values. Now work with the right side only. This is the quickest way to get the answer, but it is only marginally correct.

f(a) = -3(-8) + 7 = 24 + 7 = 31

f(b) = -3(7) + 7 = -21 + 7 = - 14

f(a) + f(b) = 31 - 14 = 17

f(a) - f(b) = 31 - (-14) = 31 + 14 = 45
