If "que" is written ; its because if the "compound subject", une proposition sujet is introduce by "que" you must use the subjonctif
"Que nous soyons amis, me fait très plaisir ! "
sont = present
seront = futur
sommes = présent , 2nd person plural (nous sommes)

I would use Sont since in a classroom females and males and since it’s a mix of the box and a group of people not counting yourself it would be ils and so using that ils verb is sont
