The Thirteen Colonies were British colonies located on the present east coast of the United States of America. Colonies were created for many reasons, as many people believed that America was the ideal place to grow products that were not available in Europe such as tobacco. Others went there for religious freedom or just to start a new beginning. Others wanted power and reform and change from what was happening in England. The first colony was Virginia, which started in 1607 in Jamestown. The last colony founded was Georgia in 1733.
