What was the statement of policy for george washington farewell address?
slavikrds [6]

Explanation:

there were several, actually.

the states shoulld focus on unity. secession should never be an option. the US's strength is in a united front towards the rest of the world.

citizens should count themselves as Americans above all else. above ethnicities, religious sects, inhabitants of different states, while persons can be labeled as any of these things, citizens must place, being an American above all of those constucts.

all changes in our governing as a republic must be accomplished constitutionally. we are a nation of laws and by rule of law.

as citizens, we have the rights to alter our government and constitution, government is to be run by the people for the people through amendments, prudently. government must be minimal to ensure freedom of people's lives and livelihoods.

Washington warned against political parties/factions.

his most important admonishment was perhaps, staying out of other country's political business. the United States should not become involved with other nations, stay away from alliances, these lead to foriegn unnecessary wars.

you should probably read it on your own, it is eerily prescient for current events.

unfortunately, we don't learn much from history, we just keep repeating it.

How did Sulla help turn the Roman Republic into the Roman Empire?
Marianna [84]

Answer:

He replaced the elected consuls and the Senate with an empire that could be inherited by members of the ruler's family.

Explanation:

Sulla, not being the Emperor in the modern sense of the word, he, however, possessed sole and unlimited power in the republic. His dictatorship dates back to 83-80 years BC, but the period of his sole rule began, in fact, in the 88th, when Sulla was elected consul. He held this post for eight years against all laws, including the Constitution. Formally, democratic institutions existed under him. There was even a second consul. But this consul was 'technical,' fulfilling the will of Sulla. There was a Senate, which was controlled in the same way by a dictator. The death of Sulla did not lead to major changes. The transition to one-man rule was a matter of time.

How did Supreme Court rulings give the federal government greater power ?
jonny [76]
I would know about John Marshall. He was a federalist supreme court chief justice. He gave more power to the government by taking a loose construction of the Constitution. So basically he said, "If it doesnt say we (Fed Gov't) cant do it, then we can)".
Know about these Court cases
Gibbons V. Ogden
McCullough V. Maryland
Fletcher V. Peck
Cohens V. Virginia
Barron V. Baltimore- this one is hard to find, so basically it just said that because the Bill of Rights was a Federal decision, it didnt apply to the states.
The rest are really easy to find out about, and you could type in John Marshall and it would probably give you all of these.
