The three main type of stress are : Compression, Tension, and Shear stress. Compression squeezes and shortens rock while Tension stretches and pulls rock, making it thinner. Shear stress distorts a body by pushing parts of the body in opposite directions. Sheared rock bends, twists, or breaks apart and slides past neighboring rock. So, Compression stress is the stress that forms mountains resulting from large blocks of rock squeezing together.

Airida [17]

The regions of light and unpredictable winds at about 30° No latitudes are called trade winds

Answer: Option A

Explanation:

Trade winds are the latitudes which cool and descend at 30 degree north and are areas with surface winds but these surface winds are light and unpredictable. These are the winds that blow towards the equator.

Trade winds blow at an average speed of about 5 to 6 meters per second and these winds are unpredictable. These winds are warm winds and therefore they pick up moisture and bring heavy rainfall.

Which of Australia’s physical features is circled on the map above? A. the Central Lowlands B. the Great Barrier Reef C. the Eas
nalin [4]

The correct answer is A. the Central Lowlands.

The Central Lowlands are a very interesting part of Australia. Big portion of this part of the country is actually lower than the sea level, so a slight increase in the sea level can make it a shallow sea inside of the continent. The biggest lakes of the country are located in here, but the problem is that most of the water is saline water because it is a remnant of the ocean water that once penetrated in here. It's a harsh place for living, while there's a short rainy season where huge amount of rain falls and everything turns green, after that it is dry for most of the year and it is pretty much desert like.
