They expected us to built the road.in passive voice

English

Answer:

The road was expected to be built by us.

Explanation:

First, identify the direct subject of this sentence, which is they. Remember to always change things in the independent clause. Then place the indirect object of the sentence at the beginning, which is the road in this case.

Because you can't exactly write "the road was expected to be built by us by them," completely rule out the word them. Now, switch things around until they make the same meaning (except wordier), and voila - you are done.

Note: most of the time, passive voice is wordy and hard to read, so stick with active voice for other writing.

Hope this helps! :)

How does the author support his thesis, or main idea, in "Shooting an Elephant"?
Triss [41]

Answer:

1. The narrator is a young European man who was hated by the Burmese people. His job as a Policeman worsened the hatred of him.

2. He was upset, sad, and angry at the treatment he received from the Burmese people.

Explanation:

In Shooting an Elephant, I could deduce that the narrator is a young European man who disliked his job and was hated by the Burmese people. The discrimination could be seen in his everyday life. When he went to play football, he was treated harshly by his playmates and referee.

On the streets, people sought to trap him and beat him up. The narrator was oppressed and the main reason could be attributed to his being a European. He secretly sided with the Burmese people and was against their British
