vazorg [7]

Answer:

It was built as a monastic cathedral to house the shrine of Saint Cuthbert.  It replaced an earlier church constructed in his honor.  Originally, Durham Cathedral was built as a monastic cathedral for a community of Benedictine monks. The cathedral also served a political and military function by reinforcing the authority of the prince-bishops of the Catholic Church over England’s northern border with Scotland.

PSYCHO15rus [73]

Answer:

D. Wilmot Proviso

Explanation:

  • Lincoln was supporting Wilmot Proviso, which was a failed attempt to ban slavery.
  • When Abraham Lincoln and Stephen A. Douglas met in a series of seven debates as they ran for Illinois Senate seat, they heatedly debated a critical issue that day, slavery.

Going to Churchill what aspect of the British military is not quite as strong as the Germans
Inessa05 [86]
To analyse in whole, Britain's WW2 military was far behind the Germans apart from a few key areas, radar, air force (RAF) and its German code breaker (Enigma). The Germans were far ahead in tank technology and with U-boat submarines. The Germans also had higher amounts of military personel at their disposal. Britain's success lay in the Battle of Britain where the combined use of radar and code breaking allowed the Royal Air Force (RAF) to beat the Luftwaffe, from then on the Luftwaffe were more or less depleted, contributing to German defeat.
