I'd say
1. Alonzo went to the music festival
2. Carmen went to the same music festival
3. Alonzo met Carmen at the music festival
(if that doesn't sound right it's probably the food ad thingy)
The direct object recieves the action of the verb (ask who or what), so in #12 it would be teammate. In #13 ball receives the action.
