What does Hitler shout to the audience watching the imaginary fight?

English
1 answer:

Answer:

Hitler shouts that Max will infiltrate into their society, take the jobs, and get rich on their account. He calls the audience to action against Max and asks them all to come into the ring and fight Max together.

Explanation:

In the novel “The Book Thief” Max is fantasizing about fighting Hitler. During the fight, Hitler would start shouting to the audience how sinister Max is. In Hitler’s words, he would move in, infest family, and take over the jobs from others. Others would have to work for him, while Max would fill his pockets on their account.

Hitler would then call the audience for an action, to climb to the ring and fight against Max with him so they would “defeat this enemy together”.

This imaginary fight is reflecting Nazi Germany and the attitude towards Germans – Hitler would tell the tales of Jewish people (who Max symbolizes) and call others to action against the danger. Max could defeat Hitler by himself, but when the whole country joined him, he would be powerless and hunted down.

A word or phrase where two words contradict each other.
Andrej [43]
The answer to this is D. Two contradicting words that are put together to form a figure of speech is called an Oxymoron. The word comes from Greek words oksus (meaning pointed) and moros (meaning dull or stupid). Oxymoron can be paradoxical or visual and physical. Paradoxical Oxymoron contradicts itself (example: “deafening silence”) while Visual and Physical Oxymoron can take the place of the noun or adjective in order to describe vividly to the reader (example: “plastic glass for drinking”).

2. What does he mean when he writes, "Where activists were once defined by their
vodka [1.7K]

Answer:

The author means that now the tools are more important that the message itself.

Explanation:

The excerpt belongs to Small Change: Why the Revolution Won't Be Tweeted, an article written by Malcolm Gladwell, a Canadian journalist and writer. There, he discusses the impact of social media and other new tools in different movements across the world.

In this sentence, Gladwell means that the vehicle the message uses to travel is more important than the message itself. He uses as an example the case of Iran, where people got enough courage to uprise because of social media like Twitter. Even though it is an interesting idea, I don't totally agree with this. I think how the message travels is important, otherwise it could be really important but sterile. There's where the tools take more relevance; sometimes, due to different factors, the tools are faster and more efficient to use communication, but if the message is not relevant, then there are no good reasons to use the tools.
