The way John Muir used lonely was in the case of him being lost and hopeless. "It seemed the most spiritual of all the flower people I had ever met. I sat down beside it and fairly cried for joy…" (Muir, Calypso Borealis paragraph 3). William Wordsworth uses the word lonely as a way to compare how a cloud can float in the sky alone for great distances before joining a group of clouds. Wordsworth no longer felt this loneliness when he spots the field of daffodils ahead. "A poet could not but be gay,

In such a jocund company:" (Wordsworth, I wandered Lonely as a Cloud stanza 3). Wordsworth finds the flowers as company for how lonely he felt and he enjoyed their presence from his heart.

Write the opening part of a story that is set in a cold place in winter.
Ivahew [28]

Answer:

A white winter day had arrived in January. Houses, trees, and even the destitute had all lost their color, giving the world a gloomy appearance. In order to feel even slightly comfortable, you would need to wear several layers of clothing, as the cold air outside would penetrate even the thickest fabric. It was the kind of day when going outside seemed like a bad idea. However, sometimes one has no option in the matter. Harold was among those braving the chill on this particular day. Harold's car had broken down in the middle of the country, and he was now stuck in the rain. After three hours of enduring the cold and wind, he decided to leave. This time of year, the sun sets earlier than usual, which is bad news for Harold. Because of this, Harold was eventually stranded in the middle of nowhere with a dead automobile, no power, and no way to go home. This winter has been the best one he can remember.
