In this paragraph Muir is talking about how all his negative feelings had disappeared after finding the Calypso. The calypso had uplifted his mood and he was no longer worrying. He also introduces a new dialect in this paragraph when he talks about meeting the locals of the swamp. In this paragraph you can see how much Muir really appreciates and enjoys being in nature because the locals couldn't believe that he had come out to the swamp in search of plants.
