Plate tectonics cause things like earthquakes and earthquakes move and shape the earth. For example, divergent boundaries - areas where the plate tectonics move away from each other and create valleys and mid-ocean rifts, convergent boundaries are areas where the plates move towards each other and collide. Basically, they create mountains,volcanoes,earthquakes, mid-ocean ridges and ocean trenches.
