Answer:

Explanation:

The Roosevelt Corollary of December 1904 stated that the United States would intervene as a last resort to ensure that other nations in the Western Hemisphere fulfilled their obligations to international creditors, and did not violate the rights of the United States or invite “foreign aggression to the detriment of the entire body of American nations.” As the corollary worked out in practice, the United States increasingly used military force to restore internal stability to nations in the region. Roosevelt declared that the United States might “exercise international police power in ‘flagrant cases of such wrongdoing or impotence.

What did Lewis record in his journal on April 7, 1805, about the attitude of the parties as the expedition set off from Fort Man
scoray [572]

Having on this day at 4 P.M. completed every arrangement necessary for our departure, we dismissed the barge and crew [2] with orders to return without loss of time to S. Louis, a small canoe with two French hunters accompanyed the barge; these men had assended the missouri with us the last year as engages. The barge crew consisted of six soldiers and two [blank] Frenchmen; two Frenchmen and a Ricara Indian also take their passage in her as far as the Ricara Vilages, at which place we expect Tiebeau [Tabeau] to embark with his peltry who in that case will make an addition of two, perhaps four men to the crew of the barge. We gave Richard Warfington, a discharged Corpl., the charge of the Barge and crew, and confided to his care likewise our dispatches to the government, letters to our private friends, and a number of articles to the President of the United States. One of the Frenchmen by the name of [NB?: Joseph] [3] Gravline an honest discrete man and an excellent boat-man is imployed to conduct the barge as a pilot; we have therefore every hope that the barge and with her our dispatches will arrive safe at St. Louis. Mr. Gravlin who speaks the Ricara language extreemly well, has been imployed to conduct a few of the Recara Chiefs to the seat of government who have promised us to decend in the barge to St. Liwis with that view.—

What were two ways that countries used economic policies to control the cost of world war 1?
insens350 [35]

Many of the countries that participated in WWI expected a very short war. None of them prepared economically for such a long war, such as in the case of stockpiling raw materials such as steel or iron, or stockpiling food. Two of the consequences in economic policies where the following:

  1. The front lines had to be channeled with male workers, and one of the economic policies used to control the cost of war was forcing women and children to work at the production of weapons and munition. It is calculated that the French and Germans fired around 10 millions shells, with a total weight of 1.4 millions tons of steel.
  2. Food became an issue during WWI, with severe food shortages reported in urban areas by 1915. This caused a great increase in food prices, and food riots became more common and violent. Agriculture was in the hands of women, and food had to be stockpiled.

I hope this answer helps you. Have a great day!
