Answer:

9 x + 8 y = 10   (I)

y = -4x + 7        (II)

One way is to rewrite the second as

4x + y = 7

Now multiply this equation by 8

32 x + 8 y = 56

9 x + 8 y = 10        and now subtract the equations

23 x = 46     this gives x as 2

From equation (II)  y = -4 (2) + 7  = -1

So our values are (2, -1)

Check:

(I) 9 x + 8 y = 10         9 * 2 - 8 = 10

(II)  4 x + y = 7       or 4 * 2 - 1 = 7

Or you can substitute equation (II) directly into equation (I)

How much should be added to the sum of 25 1/ 6 and 7 2 /5 to get 60 answer
mina [271]

Answer:

X = 27 13/30

Step-by-step explanation:

First you need to find the least common denominator of 5 and 6 to get 30 so it is 25 5/30 + 7 12/30 + x = 60. From there you add the two together to get 32 17/30 + x = 60. Subtract 32 17/30 from both sides of the equation to get the value of x which comes out to 27 13/30.

Ella swims four times a week at her club's pool. She swims the same number of laps on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and 15 laps
ZanzabumX [31]

Answer:

Equation for the problem

3x + 15 = 51 laps

Hence

She swims on

Monday: 12 laps

Wednesday : 12 laps

Friday = 12 laps

Step-by-step explanation:

Ella swims four times a week at her club's pool.

We are told that:

She swims the same number of laps on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Hence, the number rod times that she swims on Monday, Wednesday and Friday is represented by x

Also, she swims 15 laps on Saturday. She swims a total of 51 laps each week. Equation for the problem

= x + x + x + 15 = 51 laps

3x + 15 = 51 laps

Hence

3x = 51 - 15

3x = 36

x = 36/3

x = 12 laps

Therefore, She swims on:

Monday: 12 laps

Wednesday : 12 laps

Friday = 12 laps

Please help with 1 question thank you.
frosja888 [35]
Let's replace the first, second, third, and home with letters.
first base = F
second base = S
Third base = T
home base = H
We have two triangles, ΔHTS and ΔHFS
We know HS = HS because it's a shared side.
We know FS = TS
We know that ∠HST and ∠HSF are equal.
Because of SAS, the two triangles are congruent.

According to CPCTC, TH must be congruent to FH.
Thus, the distance from home plate to third base and the distance from home plate to first base must be the same.

Have an awesome day! :)
