Answer:

9 x + 8 y = 10   (I)

y = -4x + 7        (II)

One way is to rewrite the second as

4x + y = 7

Now multiply this equation by 8

32 x + 8 y = 56

9 x + 8 y = 10        and now subtract the equations

23 x = 46     this gives x as 2

From equation (II)  y = -4 (2) + 7  = -1

So our values are (2, -1)

Check:

(I) 9 x + 8 y = 10         9 * 2 - 8 = 10

(II)  4 x + y = 7       or 4 * 2 - 1 = 7

Or you can substitute equation (II) directly into equation (I)

20 points !!! -3/8x-20+2x>6
Semenov [28]

Answer:

x > 16

Step-by-step explanation:

- \frac{3}{8} x -20+2x>6

Add 20 to both sides:

- \frac{3}{8} x + 2x > 26

Multiply 8 on both sides:

- 3x + 16x > 208

13x > 208

Divide by 13 on both sides:

x > 16

Chao bought a boat for HK$160 000
Dennis_Churaev [7]

Answer:

$141,557.76

Step-by-step explanation:

Chao bought a boat for 160,000

The value of the boat reduces by 4% every year

Therefore the value of the most at the end of three years can be calculated as follows

= 100%- 4%

= 96%

= 160,000 × 96/100^3

= 160,000 × 0.96^3

= 160,000 × 0.884736

= 141,557.76

Hence the price of the boat after 3 years is 141,557.76
