Define bicameral and describe why the legislative was created to be bicameral

History

A bicameral legislature means there are two houses. For example, in the US, the two houses are the Senate the House of Representatives.
There are several reasons why the US legislature is bicameral. One is because the Framers, those who constructed the Constitution, got the idea from British Parliament and other past societies. Another reason is because of the Connecticut compromise, or the Great Compromise, where the New Jersey Plan and the Virginia Plan were compromised over so that states and people had equal but rational representation. The Senate has 100 members, two per state, so that states are represented equally, regardless of populations. The House, however, which now has 435 members, is made up of representatives who represent an equal amount of people. For example, California has 55 HoR reps and two Senators, but Montana has one rep and two Senators.

Why do you think the crowd supported Braddock over Baer?
soldi70 [24.7K]
Because Braddock hard fought his way up to the top. And that he was a everyday Irish person. Plus they knew that Baer killed a person.

btw - the way they portrayed Baer was inaccurate, he killed 1 person and he ended up compensating the family for the rest of their life.

stiks02 [169]
The Americanization Movement was a political and social movement in the early 1900s that sought to assimilate new American immigrants to American culture. The goal of these programs was to push new immigrants to adopt American beliefs, values, and culture as their own. In addition another major push was for new immigrants to study English which was the national language in the United States.

Why did suburbs tend to have little diversity?
mr_godi [17]

Answer:

C. Only white families could afford to buy a house in the suburbs.

Explanation:

A is incorrect because it technically did not ever place a "ban" on specific races being able to move into suburbs, all it did was segregate whites and blacks in schools, public places, etc.

B is incorrect because minority groups were often discriminated against pay wise and job eligibility wise, so it would not make sense that they would be the only ones that could afford housing in suburbs.

C is correct because white families were the only "group" that could afford the housing because they were least discriminated against in a work environment back in the 1960s.

D is incorrect because it just doesn't make sense, I do not believe the government has any housing financial aid in the 1960s in general.

Hopefully this helps!
