Since there are no other details and instructions, I wrote the poem in free verse.

Answer:

Should we break this chain

And soar?

We are eagles

But were told we could not fly.

Should we kill the beast

or run?

We're like flowers

That were plucked by withered hands.

They tell us this is how things are

Should we believe them

Or break free?

The sky is our home

The mountain tops our bed

Should we fly, my friend?

Or let them pluck us to die?

Explanation:

Simile and metaphors are similar figures of speech in the sense that they both are used to make a comparison.

A metaphor makes an indirect comparison by stating that "thing X is thing Y". By doing so, it lets us know that X is similar to Y, that it has characteristics that Y has. That is what we have in "we are eagles". Of course we are not eagles. What it means is that, just like eagles, we have the power to be free.

A simile makes a direct comparison, that is, a more clear comparison than a metaphor. That is because the simile uses the words "like" or "as" to compare - "thing X is like thing Y." That is what we have in "we're like flowers". In this case, we are being compared to flowers that were plucked, that had their freedom taken away and died.

Education increases freedom, as does community. A guide and a path of life grants freedom because it enables one to flourish. Anything that stunts possibility enslaves us.

List two examples of irony from “The Lottery” story and explain how they are ironic.
Len [333]
One example of irony is that Tess is chosen to be the one for the lottery yet in the beginning she is portrayed to be a carefree woman that cares for her family and a person the town likes. Also old Man Warner makes fun of towns that are wanting to get rid of The Lottery and he thinks that means they will go back to primitive times. Though it is the opposite because that town is moving forward by abandoning dated traditions to match moral standards.

VARVARA [1.3K]

The progression from wayfarers to spacefarers demonstrate that people have advanced to the point where not only do we travel on foot but Astronauts and Cosmonauts are able to travel in space. This shows how technology has improved.
