Edmund Louis "Snitz" Gruber was a Brigedier General in the US army and was the inspiration behind the official US Army song, "The Army Goes Rolling Along".

General Snitz died unexpectedly in 1941 and was honored by the US Army when they named Camp Gruber in Oklahoma after him in reference to him having served in Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
