If a red blood cell is placed in water, water enters the cell by osmosis. Because the membrane is quite weak the cell will burst as the volume and therefore the pressure in the cell increases. Red blood cells shrink when placed in concentrated solutionsof sugar as water moves out of them by osmosis.

If a plant's leaves developed so that its vascular tissue only contained xylem, how would this affect the rest of the plant's ph
Snezhnost [94]

Answer:

If a plant's leaves only contained the vascular tissue xylem, then it will not be possible for the plant to absorb carbon dioxide. As carbon dioxide is required for photosynthesis to occur, this means that the process of photosynthesis will not take place. As a result, the plant will not be able to produce food as photosynthesis is the process by which plants make food. This will result in the plant to die eventually in the end due to lack of food.

Which of the following distinguishes a prokaryotic cell from a eukaryotic cell?. . A. the presence of a nucleus. B. the presence
Serhud [2]
I believe it should be A. The presence of a nucleus. Because for response B, it's not true as prokaryotes and eukaryotes possess cell membranes. It can't be C as their ability to interact with the environment is not as different. This is also true of ability to reproduce.

What would you expect your tv to be if you inhaled a foreign object which completely obstructed your right mainstem bronchus?
Sergio [31]
The tidal volume (TV) will be decreased greatly and it will be reduced to more than half of normal. In the event of complete obstruction of the right main bronchus; the whole right lung becomes a dead space wherein the right lung will not be ventilated. Ventilation is the exchange of gases between the atmosphere and the alveolus (which is primary site of gas exchange).
