He also has <u>little to no experience</u> in the area, for <em>"He was a newcomer in the land, and  this was his first winter."</em> Moreover, the <u>steep trails and the unavailability of easy communication</u> further put him in conflict with the forces of nature. In the end, he ended up dead, with just the dog reaching the destination.

Thus, the correct answers are all the options except "dirty hotels".
