How does the transactional model of communication differ from the linear model?

The linear model of communication conceives of all communication of taking part in one direction, with a sender transmitting information to a receiver. In contrast, the transactional model assumes that both parties are simultaneously transmitting to and receiving from one another. In its simplest formulation the transactional model is just two simultaneous linear channels of communication, but most transactional models complicate this picture by positing that the sender and receiver interpret information received and reciprocate towards the other party.

Answer:

Transactional communication is different from linear communication. The distinction is in how the communicator sends the communicant a signal. It’s also different in terms of its nature, both for transactional as well as linear communication.

Explanation:

• Linear Communication

Linear communication is the method of providing directly or indirectly through the use of communication media texts from a communicator to the recipient or communicant. This communication consists of only one direction, and from the message given to the communicator, there is no reciprocal relationship. Linear communication, in other words, is a type of one-way communication. Some examples of direct linear interaction include multi-event speeches and comments. There is also indirect linear communication. For instance, only on television shows, radio, and other mass media communication. Included also in internet media.

• Transactional Communication

In the meantime, where there is continuity, there is transactional communication. In contrast to linear communication, it involves all parties and components in transactional communication. The main feature of this form of transactional communication is that it continually occurs. Communication can, therefore, be more interactive. There is also a mutual process in this communication. Thus, it is possible to receive all messages. For example, if you have a conversation and receive a response from the person you're talking to, this means that the process of transactional communication may work well.

In the process of verbal communication, transactional communication occurs not only in verbal communication but also in nonverbal communication. Both of the communication methods are very useful. But if you want to make sure that both parties have the same understanding or perception about a topic, it is better to use transactional communication rather than linear communication that takes only one path.

Which two parts of this excerpt from The Time Machine by H. G. Wells suggest that the Time Traveller told a captivating tale?
mash [69]

Answer:

Explanation: "In writing it down I feel with only too much keenness the inadequacy of pen and ink--to express its quality."

He is having trouble translating those exact feelings into words despite his knowledge and prowess, and this shows that the experience observed first hand was rather magnificent and captivating.

And secondly, at the end, when the writer says that "after a time we ceased to do that, and looked only at the Time Traveller's face."

The fact that the story cast a spell and they stopped looking at each other also tells us something. These two excerpts show that the Time Traveller told a captivating tale.
